The Deutsche Oper has been destroyed by bombs in the year 1943 and was rebuild shortly after World War II. During the "Cold War" the Deutsche Oper became a major place of cultural interest in the west part of Berlin. Today it is home of an opera company and the Staatsballett Berlin.
